Reflexology Accupressure Therapeutic Aromatherapy Celtic Reiki Out-Call Seated Massage, Reflexology and/or Tai Chi Hypnotherapy Hot Stone Therapy Custom Aromatherapy Products We borrow from different modalities instead of sticking entirely to one in a treatment, letting our intuition and your needs guide my work. Therapeutic massage is entirely non-sexual. Swedish MassageDuring your session you will undress to your comfort level, lie on the table under the sheets, and I will use kneading, percussive, and long gliding strokes with either lotion or oil as a lubricant.I use top quality scented and unscented products. I will only uncover the area of the body I am working on, and always maintain safe, respectful draping. Swedish massage increases circulation, bringing nutrients to and carrying toxins away from the area being massaged. It helps break up scar tissue and adhesion of connective tissues, speeding recovery time from injuries. Swedish massage can also decrease joint pain and increase range of motion. Deep TissueDeep Tissue work involves softening of an area, followed by slow, intense sustained pressure. This modality helps release adhesions of muscle fibers and connective tissue that are not responsive to less intense work. Deep Tissue work also helps release toxins that have been stored in the muscle for an extended period of time. This release can sometimes lead to soreness during the first 24 hours following the session; however, this should give way to a release of previous pain and tension. AcupressureAcupressure is based on the principles of acupuncture. This ancient Chinese technique involves the use of finger pressure (rather than needles) at specific points along the body to treat ailments such as arthritis, tension and stress, aches and pains, and menstrual cramps. This system is also used for general preventive health care. ShiatsuShiatsu is a Japanese word that means "finger pressure." Pressure is applied to points on the body, working on the body's energy system.Different techniques are used to relieve different pain and release energy blockages. This is a form of acupressure. Hot Stone TherapyHot Stone Therapy is a unique connection we experience with nature, offering a sense of profoundness and sacredness that we too often forget.Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage, and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. |
